But to be fair, who did Clemson beat?  NC State and Boston College were the highest ranked teams they beat.  Notre Dame destroyed Syracuse, while Clemson struggled to eke out the W against the Orangemen.

True, but did you see that game? Clemson was playing their third-string QB because the other two were hurt. Syracuse beat them last year and remembered it was possible. In 2017, the game was at Syracuse.

 Yes, the Tigers were heavily favored in this game; but this level of blow-out is truly a surprise.

Not really. Clemson has a very good defense. ND hadn't played anything like it this year. That tends to snowball in a game like this, where once ND got behind they had to take chances, and against such a good defense that just doesn't work.
