I thought Costello improved significantly from ‘17. Much more accurate. Handled pressure well. He had to carry the offense. And did so.
Next progression- getting the ball out quicker. Part of that is schematic. Lots of downfield throws. They threw more slants and drags this year. But it still is not a quick passing attack.
If I’m Shaw, I’m looking at what Indy does. They incorporate tight ends and backs well. So it’s a framework Stanford can use. Luck is getting the ball out significantly faster than when he played under Pagano. It’s made a brobdingnagian difference.
Shaw has to get at least one 2020 QB. You can’t have a two year gap. As everyone knows I’m a very strong Shaw supporters, but he has not done well recruiting quarterbacks the last several years. His recruited some very good ones – Costello and Mills.. And I think West was pretty highly regarded. He simply hasn’t recruited enough of them.

Richardson played several games including the one snap yesterday.
Costello came close to setting a record this year. Yes a great season, so great he is considering declaring for the draft.
No 2019 QB, one in 2020 who is on a mission.
