In my opinion it really has nothing to do with stopping her shot, it's  making her take tough shots as mentioned above, and forcing her to go where we want her to go

They weren’t really letting her go around. … I think they defended us really well. They made Aari really work and take tough shots.”

“Everybody was in the paint, they had hands on balls, she could barely turn the corner,” Barnes said of McDonald, who had bigger defenders draped all over her. “But a lot of the shots she missed she usually makes.”

By clogging the paint with our sagging man, and by channeling her into the paint, she was shooting into a shot blocker.
