There have been eight MLB MVPs in the All-Star game era that did not get named to the league All-Star team the year each won the MVP award.  Name the players, teams and years...

I know Kirk Gibson (Dodgers, '88) is one. I have no idea about any other. Maybe that year there was no ASG? 1982 or 1983? Steve Garvey?

Gibson was the second one, Willie Stargell in 1979 was the first.  Steve Garvey, Keith Hernandez and Pete Rose were named instead of Stargell.  Will Clark, Andres Galarraga and Gerald Perry were named instead of Gibson.  Clark and Galarraga had significantly better OPS than Stargell, Perry was Atlanta's lone representative that year.
