LSU’s Nathan Jeansonne and South Carolina’s Ryan Hall each received three-shot penalties for missing three of the four checkpoints in Friday’s opening round. South Carolina subsequently missed the cut yesterday by 2 shots.

Ooh that's gotta hurt. Plus the 3 shot penalty took Ryan Hall out of the apparent playoff today for continuing play as an individual.

But a few questions:

Are they informed at each checkpoint that they missed the deadline?

How did the third player in their group escape being penalized? Was there some determination that he was not responsible for the group's slow play? How?

Also, is the 1-shot penalty added to their score on that hole?
