There’s some good back-and-forth dialogue on Twitter between Baseball America’s Teddy Cahill (@tedcahill) and Perfect Game’s Patrick Ebert (@PGPatrickEbert) debating the merits of Esquer’s decision to start Williams over Miller. Personally, I like it. Save Miller for tonight’s game. The counter argument is that he’s getting ahead of himself and you play one game at a time but in my mind there’s no consolation prize for second place. You put your team in the best position possible to win the next three games and that means matching your best eligible starter up against the best opposition. That being said, Esquer could wind up with some serious egg on his face if we bow out without having thrown arguably our two best pitchers in Miller and Little.
