Hulk -- for golf, speed of play (or actually the lack of speed of play) is killing it.  Tour would do well to put an under 4 hour round rule in.  penalize every player a shot for every 15 minutes over 4 hours.  such a display should spill out and have a positive knock-on effect.  in my experience, pace of play in Scotland or Ireland is about 1.5 times faster than in the US -- 3:30 is a slow round for a foursome walking.  Play 9 is nice but still a big time commitment at US pace.
