They have to build bottom up. Farhan is doing that. MadBum is one of my all time favorite Giants. No 2 pitcher. Behind Juan. Yet I’d trade him. His value should be fairly high right now. He’s pitching very well and his “stuff” has gotten better. And, of course, he has that post season record.
Smith also should bring value. And it’s somewhat of a waste to have a top flight closer on a lower division team.
I wonder about Belt. He could have some value. High OBP. Good glove. And his power plays outside of Oracle.
Farhan is making a believer out of me. One thing is certain, he’s not going to sit around and watch a bunch of old vets play.
Speaking of old vets. It’s painful to watch Buster hit. A shell of a once great hitter. But he’s still a terrific defensive catcher. He’s signed through ‘22. At present, he has little value if he’s playing first base. Why do I raise this, Joey Bart. I’d give him a first baseman’s glove right now. Get him out of the squat. Aramis Garcia is a decent catching prospect. He can back up and perhaps take over for Buster.
The Giants don’t win three Championships with Buster playing anywhere but catcher. But all those games have caught up with him. I don’t want to see that happen to Bart.

Unless I could get somebody like Verdugo I would keep and resign Will Smith. They should insist on quality for Bum, a regular outfielder and two prospects in the 3-7 range of an organization’s stockpile. Otherwise keep him. Belt is hot... time to unload. Also I think the Panik concussion has made a .235 hitter out of a .280 hitter. I’d dump him and play Solano while waiting for youth to emerge at Richmond or San Jose.
Agree with you Phogge, especially about Panik. I don't think Crawford has any trade value either, but he looks to have maybe 1-2 years left at best, got old quickly.
