I just have to share a personal story. My dad was a Stanford professor for decades and was teaching spring quarter of 1979 at Stanford's campus (in a villa) in Florence. My sister - nine years old at the time - and I (at the age of 12) were, of course, living there with our parents. Milt befriended us - and out of his generosity even took me to a professional soccer game in Florence. (I also remember playing a flag football game on a beach in Pisa where he was on the other team - needless to say, he destroyed our offensive line, made up of regular Stanford students.)
Fast forward to 2019. My sister - now in her late 40s - graduated years ago from Stanford medical school and is a practicing physician. Meanwhile, Milt has decided to re-start his medical career there. Needless to say, never would have guessed it!
