According to a Golf Channel news release, Begay was taken to Methodist Hospital in Dallas where a stent was inserted to unblock his right coronary artery. Begay, a Navajo from New Mexico, has a history of heart disease in the family.
“My father died of a heart attack, and I’m pretty sure there was heart disease on Notah’s mother’s side, as well,” Notah Jr. said.

it's funny how people turn out physically. Athletes in great shape can die from heart attacks (Jim Fixx). I have a friend who is 250+ pounds and eats fast food 3x / day. He had a sonic exam on his heart. 3 of 4 valves completely clean, other one is 15% occluded. His 76 year old mother stopped smoking two years ago, a 61 year habit of 2-3 packs per day. No cancer, emphysema, lung disease, heart disease. Replaced both hips, though.
