If the Giants get a wild card berth this year, it will be "torture". They simply aren't yet a good team. Their hitting has unquestionably improved in the last month+. They have improved their overall talent as an offense by getting a 2B who can at least in theory hit a bit. However, their rotation is quite weak in the 3-5 spots, and the Shark is a bit erratic at 2. Their bullpen, while still strong, may not be able to make up for that. Yet, they hang in there. It may be the ability to just keep going that enables them to rise above teams like Philadelphia and Washington, who are probably a bit better in talent but who hopefully will choke a bit in the "dog days" of August. It is for sure going to take a bit of luck to get there. The Giants don't get many weak teams to beat up on during the next two months. They will have to earn it.
