Valenzuela was solid in winning her match 4&3. She advances to the quarterfinals vs. Aneka Seumanutafa from Ohio State.
Seay ran out of gas. Perhaps she was "ruffled." She lost to Gabriela Ruffels 6&5.
Lee and Pano played a fantastic match. They made 11 birdies in regulation between them, including 8 on the back 9. Lee was 3 down after 8 holes, but played 5 under the rest of the way to tie the match with a stellar, pressure-packed 18th hole. She was 1 down, but drilled a drive and 6 iron to 15 feet then rolled in the putt to send the match to extra holes. On the 20th hole, Lee nearly chipped in for eagle which would have won the match. The birdie was conceded. Then Pano with all of the pressure on her rolled in a 5 footer for birdie. On to the 21st hole. The match continues . . .
On the 21st, Pano had a 15 footer for birdie to win. She left it just short. On the 22nd, Lee had an 18 footer for birdie to win. She missed as well. On to the 23rd . . .
on the 23rd hole, Pano drove it in the rough and could not recover. Her par putt came up short. Lee was middle of fairway, middle of the green, 2 putts for the win. Lee advances to the quarters against Lucy Li!
