I was driving my car listening to a classical music station while thinking about the upcoming football season. I was pondering whether our young unproven players could step up and surprise everyone as I reached down and changed the radio station to a classic rock channel and I was jolted. It was playing All Right Now. I listened to the entire song with a big smile on my face, and when it was finished I switched back to the classic music station. My jaw dropped and a chill ran up my spine as I heard the William Tell Overture playing on my radio. Call it coincidence if you like, but I believe it was a sign of big things to come this football season.
As it just so happens, I do not believe in signs, but I like yours. I am approaching this season with unwarranted optimism, which is the prerogative of any fan in the pre-season. A few emotional boosts along the way (from sacred fight songs if necessary) are always welcome.
