Dereck Rodriguez was called up and pitched seven innings of shutout ball.  Coonrod and Abad looked good.

Could be, maybe.

If it is going to happen, wins by the bottom three starters are going to be what makes it happen. If this is not a fluke, and Rodriguez can be at least a .500 pitcher, that will greatly help. Without something along those lines, there is just too much drag to overcome.

The Giants are 3.5 back and will need to leapfrog the Cubs, the Phillies, the Diamondbacks, the Mets and the Brewers.  Nationals are looking pretty solid for the first wild card, they're 1.5 ahead of the #2 team.

Giants are #26 in runs scored, but have crept up in ERA to #10.  Pitching has been improving.

Giants need to sweep Arizona, Cueto needs to come back, and Slater needs to keep on keepin' on...
