Shaw is a complex, if extremely personally dull, football coach. I think that the lack of pizazz in the SID office is his doing. Stanford runs a clean, successful program and that is to be admired. Good SID's with support from staff often figure out ways to get the message out and I think Stanford's shortcomings in that arena eventually hurt the program.

Somehow, I think that description is A-OK with the administration, with the donors, with the fans.  It might literally be in his Bradford Freeman job description, along with "successful prevention of information dissemination" in the SID job description.
