What a panacea Webb could be if he can keep it up.

Yes and yes.

If Webb can even be a .500 pitcher the rest of the year, it would help immensely. Naturally, better is better. The Giants are still a long shot, but the way they have been playing makes one think anything is possible. No mateer what happens tomorrow, they have for sure wounded the Dbacks. That is one team they have to compete with. They get a shot at the Cubs soon. They need to win that series as well. They have to play .600 ball the rest of the way. That is the task. If they do it, they play on. If they can't, I hope they stay close enough to keep it interesting.

Second place behind the Dodgers on August 17th.  Two months ago, I would have never believed it.  Webb was fantastic.  Consider that he came up through minors this year!!  One AAA game and he defeats the Diamondbacks in Arizona.  Plus, he is a local boy from right up I-80.
