Quote:...where does Tiger/Elin sit on the Marriet Ford Spousal Respect Scale?
(Just a calibration exercise before we get too wound around the axle w/ Tiger\'s so-called essential character. )
It\'s interesting that calumnus doesn\'t really give much credence the learning theory of human development. It\'s all about hard-wiring, apparently. I don\'t have a high opinion of how Tiger behaved in his marriage, but neither I nor calumnus know whether Tiger\'s learned or grown from the experience. Guess we\'ll find out.
Wow. Where did THAT come from? You are making a lot of erroneous assumptions. While admittedly I don\'t really like listening to Tiger, I love watching him play golf (the only time I watch golf) and have been rooting for him from day one.
I made no moral judgement about his behavior. My only assumption was that Tiger has found that he enjoys having sex with many women, since he did, often, for years. The only problem with that is that he was married to Elin. Now I believe that whatever their agreement regarding fidelity was between them, but clearly his behavior was not something she approved of and violated that agreement. Tiger went to great lengths to hide his affairs and was clearly stressed at times as revealed in his "texts." Now that he is no longer married to Elin, there is nothing immoral about him having sex with whomever he wants (OK, consenting adults). He can go on tour, have a "girlfriend" stay in his room, and not care if anyone knows about it. Golf in beautiful locations around the world, lots of sex, living how he wants, and still more money than you or I will ever see. I think his golf game will rebound accordingly.
Of course I believe that people learn. What does that have to do with this? What do you think he needs to learn? That having sex with many partners is bad? That would be YOUR moral judgement, not mine. He is single now. He is not going back to his marriage. Sure, he could choose to be monogamous or even celibate now, but why should he? There is no moral imperative to. Any "lesson" learned pertains to commitment and marriage, which I imagine will not be an issue anytime soon.
