I think a fuller excerpt of his post-game statement makes things quite clear.

“So we are in process to play our best football. We haven’t seen it, haven’t shown it on game day. There’s so much more on this football team, and we’ve got to get it out of us. It starts with me, finding a way to get us to play better.

There are times where we play really, really well, and there are times where we're a little sloppy. Not going to blame it on anything other than our execution...

So I'm not going to hit the panic button. I don't have a panic button. There's no panic button. There is focusing on what we need to focus on, make sure we have guys in position to do their jobs, make sure we have the right guys in there to do those jobs.

Trust the character of this football team, trust our work ethic, trust our resilience.”

I don’t see how one interprets this as throwing the players under the bus.

I will repeat, for clarity, “There’s so much more on this football team, and we’ve got to get it out of us. It starts with me, finding a way to get us to play better.”

That's the first quote I've seen or heard in THREE WEEKS where he has put any responsibility on his shoulders or his staff's. Also, it should have been the FIRST thing he said. Instead, it's buried at the end of a post-game statement.

He should be leading with something like "Today's loss is on the entire program, from me down to the execution on the field." By the time you get to the end of the statement, it's too late.

I pay more attention to the radio post-game interviews than the post-game and Tuesday press conferences which aren't broadcast. I'll try to do more of the latter, but I'm sticking by my statement.
