But we didn't expect it to happen, since the only example we could think of Coach Shaw benching a starter for non-performance in the past 7 years was Hogan for Nunes.

The irony, of course, is that that was the single most critical substitution Shaw has made during his entire tenure as head coach. The trajectory of that season, and in some sense our post-Luck success, turned almost on a dime with that move. 

Maybe he should try mixing things up more often...
