Yes, indeed. Shaw was right that freshmen brought a lot of depth that we didn't have last year. Who would have thunk that we could lose 4 starter level lineman (Little, Hamilton, Hattis, Powell) plus two reserves (Bragg and Pease) and still field a competitive offensive line against UW. At the beginning of the season, I wrote a summary of the season's prospects and said that losing more than 1 starting lineman could be catastrophic. I was wrong. There was a lot more depth with credible bodies to come in than I expected. Of course, that depth is now gone and our margin for error is close to zero. Stanford has had seasons in the Shaw era where we didn't lose any OL to injuries so in theory we can make it the next 6 games (or at least until Hamilton gets healthy) without losing another OL, but our current rate seems to be losing one starting OL every game. That can't continue.
