Interesting call by Crystobal with fourth and 6 from the WSU 33, up by 6 points and about 3 minutes left... Crystobal elected to punt. A fifty yard field goal makes it a two possession game, but I don’t know how reliable their field goal kicker is; he was 3/3 on the night with a long of 40. A made field goal wins the game. On the other hand, a punt pins WSU deep in their own field, having to drive the length of the field in under three minutes for a touchdown. And in fact, the punt was downed at the 10, and WSU did in fact drive the length of the field in about 2 minutes for the go-ahead TD, and of course WSU is uniquely equipped to drive down the length of the field quickly.
Obviously we have the benefit of hindsight, but i think Crystobal made the wrong call (perhaps doubly so because he supposedly wants to instill an attitude of toughness into the team). WSU made it up to the 40 in four plays, and had over two minutes left to drive the remainder of the field, which of course they did.

It’s the fat, lazy players’ fault.

Then they score to go ahead by one with exactly 1 minute left. So they decide to kickoff deep, the Oregon guy returns it up to the 39, and Herbert easily gets them in FG position.
