The officiating we had vs Gonzaga is a big turnoff for fans. Who wants to sit and watch Missy strut around wasting our time or Kyle Bacon blowing calls? One thing that perpetually bothers me about WCBB is that officiating rewards play that is not what I would call good. Someone boxes out, grabs a rebound, and then everyone starts slapping at the ball. Boxing out, jumping for a rebound, securing it with two hands, that is all good play that should be rewarded and protected by the officials. Standing there while someone on the other team does all that and than trying to slap at the ball is not exactly what I would call good basketball, yet that is how almost every rebound goes in WCBB. I watch men's teams and for the most part when someone gets a rebound, the other team doesn't stand around slapping at it. Yeah, we needed to secure the ball better, but gotta think a lot of the slap the ball and off it goes plays also are fouls that are not called.
I would like to see WCBB have a rule that when someone secures a rebound, defined by feet back on the ground, ball in two hands, the other team can't hack at the ball right away, like have a one or two second "no hack" rule unless the player with the ball makes a basketball move like tries to dribble, pass or shoot. Too much of the game is a mosh pit of pushing and hacking.
