The Stanford defense has been measurably worse each year since 2014. Even with All Americans (Thomas, Adebo), a future NFL MLB and other All P12 performers and future NFL contributors, the defense has continued to decline. It was masked in 2015 and 2017 by (sometimes) superior play on offense. The problems are basic - pressuring the passer, tackling, covering receivers, making plays.
I won't advocate for a total clean house. But the HC has to realize something is wrong and needs attention. He needs to hold his coaches accountable. That's what good leaders do.
