We have a wvb player just had a acl operation. After her injury at the Games she was walking just fine. Pre operation Ya never know
Usually you can be “fine” pre-ACL (and in fact, for some non-athletes who are somewhat sedentary, they can elect not to have their ACL’s reconstructed). That’s because typically the surgeons wait a few weeks for the swelling to go down before operating, and you don’t need an ACL for walking. The immediate aftermath of the surgery, there is limited mobility, but now days recovery to walking can be fairly quick. I believe another poster here is an orthopedic surgeon and can add some more specifics.
