I'm going to miss these ladies.  If you've been on the Cardboard for a while, you'll know that I follow both WBB & WVB.  As I was leaving the regionals last week, I thought about how I felt a stronger connection to this set of players that I have to previous classes in either sport.  I'm not sure why.  Maybe the fact that it was a larger single class, and (because of their abilities) they've probably accumulated more minutes on the court than others.  Maybe it is that they show (and I'll single out Audriana) such joy when they play (and WVB is structured so they can show that on virtually every point).

I wish that they'd have had John Dunning there, or at least had a taped interview with him about these girls he recruited, how he got such a good group that so complemented each other.

Glad to hear the shout-out to Denise Corlett for being part of all 9 championships.

At the BBQ, I wish I'd asked Madeline Gates just when she decided to graduate early & try to get in Stanford.  I understood her to indicate she really came for the grad school in statistics, but you have to figure she was thinking of trying to join this team, esp. since it was down a middle.  (I'd also like to understand why she didn't talk to Hambly before her acceptance at Stanford.  Maybe she knew she'd definitely be accepted.)  While I'm glad she joined Stanford, I fear the grad transfer rule can be abused to benefit top teams at the expense of other teams.

One of the cool things about Stanford winning 3-0 was it gave the Stanford fans the opportunity to watch the festivities.

IIRC, there were some questions here about whether Hambly has really shown his ability, or whether he has been riding on John Dunning's coat tails.  While I think he has shown his prowess, I understand the questions.  We shall see next year.  It will be interesting.
