The first few games of the season, it seems like we were doing quite well for the most part. We demolished the opponents that we should have handled pretty easily (except for Cal Baptist) and then found a way to win against tougher opponents like Gonzaga, Syracuse and Mississippi State. Then Ohio State and Tennesse were games that we managed to pass as well, but there were warning signs in this part of the season, that did not really bite us until the Texas loss and we managed to shake off to beat Davis.
As we look ahead into a tough conference season, we get a nice buildup in levels of difficulty to start off this part of the schedule. We start with two of the easier teams to start off with, UW and Washington State at home and then even though Cal no longer has Anigwe, one cannot underestimate a rivalry game and Cal played both UConn and Kentucky tough. Then comes the Oregon schools for our first major matchup.
Hopefully, in these three weeks, we'll get Carrington back and maybe have DiJonai back will put less pressure on Kiana to lead and she can get her shooting touch back. At this point, I am highly doubtful that we will be getting Maya back anytime soon. Maybe she can red-shirt and get a 5th season if she wanted to.
