Definitely aware of it. I first went to Mio Vicino in Campbell, then they opened in Willow Glen. Both had brobdingnagian followings, the owners rammed through big price increases and the crowds dropped off. Really too bad because Willow Glen has every kind of restaurant except pasta/Italian (I don't count Willow Street Pizza, which has gone downhill so fast, it's as if a rocket is attached to it).
When we lived in Palo Alto, Mrs. Mick and I went to the University Creamery and Peninsula Creamery and Max's Opera Cafe regularly. Really enjoyed all three places. Very bummed that they're gone.
Lastly, there was a gourmet burger place in W. G. called A. J.'s, closed about eight months ago. World-class burgers. Pay the same as at Shake Shack, a pale imitation if there ever was one.
