I enjoyed the walk-back-through-time nature of the Yum-Yum list, particularly the short, pithy reviews.
For instance, one reviewer gave the Dutch Goose a one word description - "Vulgar, DBA 75", which was followed quickly by a correction "WONDERFULLY vulgar, BLF 75". The recently gone and lamented Oasis got an "Extremely vulgar" from the same DBA 75 but a sad note that the "ID algorithm is bug-free" from an underage and would-be drinker. Or this droll but spot-on comment on San Jose's Original Joes, "Average and consistent, Pat-74".
There are several other gems embedded in the reviews.

In 1938 Neville Chamberlain declared "Peace in our time", Superman first appeared in Action Comics, Seabiscuit beat War Admiral ....... and C.a.l last won the Rose Bowl.
