You didn't hear me and my Toyon dorm mate cheering Stanford 4 rows from the top of the arena? It was a beautiful thing to see in person.
Listening to the UCLA postgame on the drive home from Pauley, Don MacLean (sorry for prior misspelling) strongly complimented Stanford. He said he saw the 2nd game of the season (vs. Fullerton) and could not believe it was the same team he had watched in recent years. The team defense was excellent and exactly what Mick Cronin wants to see at UCLA. Cronin ripped his team in the postgame presser for their lack of effort. Said he would have played 4 guys on the court in the 2nd half if he could have because he could not find 5 he trusted to put on the floor. Wow.
Special props to Daejon Davis for a tremendous effort despite his injury. I could not tell if it was right ankle or something else. He could barely play defense in the latter part of the 1st half because he could barely run. Yet he gutted it out and came out in the 2nd half charging up and down the court like nothing was wrong. I think that is a great example of what Coach Haase means when he talks about team chemistry and commitment to each other.
