Jessica Mendoza with the most asinine take I’ve heard yet from a national TV analyst. Not a great week for alums of Stanford batted ball sports.
And as an employee of an organization (the Mets) who were mixed up in all this (as the current home of the only then-player, Carlos Beltran, implicated in the sign-stealing scandal), it's doubly inappropriate of her to be saying this.
Just really, really disappointing from Jessica. I thought she has been a terrific analyst, and I think she has admirably shaken off the haters who said she couldn't be a baseball analyst because she's a woman. I've defended her repeatedly because she's good at the ESPN gig. But holy mackerel. Every once in a while someone says something so deeply and profoundly wrong that you just can't ever look at them in the same light again.
(Also, I remain appalled that anyone at ESPN thinks it's appropriate for her to remain as an analyst despite also being employed by the Mets. You can't both work for a team and purport to be an independent analyst.)
