my data is from 1979 to present, I do not recall there ever being alcoholic beverages being sold in the common areas of the football stadium.
My recollection of alcohol in the stadium
- initially you could bring in pretty much any alcohol you could carry. As a student we'd sit in the student section and have a few playmate coolers full of bottles of beer (each held 12 bottle plus ice)
- the rule changed somewhere along the way to whatever you brought in had to fit under your seat (not that this was ever really enforced), again the 12 bottle playmate coolers worked great.
then there was the first night Big Game (1989?) where a lot of fights broke out (one in our section where a fellow dove over us to join a scrum a few rows below us). That was the end of alcohol in the stadium.
Of course with in and out privileges many tailgate until kick-off and at halftime return to their tailgater for some more adult beverages then return for the second half. If they would sell alcohol in the stadium I wonder if they would end in and out privileges.
