Edman was perhaps the Cardinals' best hitter last season. He was called up in mid-season and ended up leading the team in batting average, slugging average, and OPS, and he was second in on-base pct. -- .304 average, .350 OBP, .500 slugging, .850 OPS.
Surprisingly, Edman had higher slugging percentage and OPS than the Cardinals' top power hittters, Paul Goldschmidt and Marcell Ozuna. In little more than half a season, Edman had 17 doubles, 7 triples, and 11 homers. And he stole 15 bases while being caught just once.
If he can keep up that kind of production, the Cardinals will have to find a way to get him in the line-up every day.
