14 new deaths in Germany overnight, which increased the total by 50% (now 42).  Maybe the answer is simply that they started identifying patients earlier in the pandemic.  Or maybe some reversion to the mean.  Note the crude fatality rate is still about .4%, which is still much better than other places.
