Would putting face masks on a tanning bed to soak up the UV for an hour help to knock down the active virus, allowing perhaps even a 2-day re-use in a pinch?
(That link is to a study of SARS-CoV-1 and the environment. An hour under UV was sufficient to inactivate the virus, but I have no idea how the UV used for that study relates to a tanning bed (apparently there are both UVA and UVB beds). I am sure a tanning salon would be happen to open for this purpose, and I'm sure the cost would be acceptable. I don't know if UV would go through the plastic bag isolating the mask. I don't know if the UV would damage the mask (or bag) in any way.)
This makes a lot of sense in theory. I saw a doctor somewhere saying UV light kills SARS-CoV-2 in less than an hour.
Depends on the UV. UVA probably no. I believe UVB (around 312nm) can. UVC (around 254 nm) certainly. There are LEDs in the 277nm range that are hitting the market for air purification. Worked briefly with a company that had a system that used wavelengths in the 200 nm range to clean hospital rooms. Very, very expensive. . . .
Free Phogge!!!! And no, crimson doesn't refer to the Tide.
