Doctors are struggling with this question as we speak. The guidelines from the CDC and thus the ones most hospitals use leverage the assumption that it's not aerosolized but I know that at least with ENT docs (And this may be selection bias...or some other bias if I picked the wrong bias. =)) they've noticed that a large number (excepting the frontline) of Dr deaths and infections were to ENT. They theorized that ENTs are often doing airway procedures where they hover over the patient's face for up to an hour. That's a lot of breathing -> only a surgical mask or even none at all -> higher viral load.
No studies that I've heard of to support the above though. Just word of mouth.
