Was watching Jeff Passan on SportsCenter this evening reporting MLB has agreed to have all of its franchises tested with the Stanford antibody test. I believe it will be all players and team employees. This will provide a pretty meaningful surveillance scan that should finally provide some real insight into how widespread infection has been. They expect results to start being reported next week.

Passan made clear this isn’t being done to get MLB players back playing, but as a way to provide meaningful data for public benefit. I believe them because most organizations would be too afraid of potentially bad news to actually do this. The fact it’s a great PR move doesn’t hurt. I mean imagine all the ads MLB will run thanking its players and team employees for doing their part to help America, and everyone watching saying “yeah, thank you, baseball.”
