It sucks to lose Hector as a football player and I get the "everyone makes mistakes and deserves a second chance" takes.

But the fact is many boys could have done what Hector apparently did and they didn't do it. Why should he get given an opportunity those who didn't don't have? it is nice to see there are some institutions that won't compromise their values.

Fully expect Hector to end up at USC, where they have no values to compromise.

Hard to disagree with this decision, particularly because legal liability (no one charged - let alone convicted - of anything relating to this incident) has little bearing on right/wrong here.  Separately, however, I would not say Stanford (including Stanford sports) doesn't compromise their values from time to time.  There have been many instances of whitewashing over the years, and one or two in the not-so-distant past.

And I'll just leave it at that.
