Lara Hruska, a lawyer representing the players and parents, said in an email to The Times Friday, “While the records ultimately do exonerate our clients, release of them will not quell the public obsession with this private encounter between minors.

They certainly have a right to block release of the records given that most were minors and there was no prosecution.  But I'd kind of want to review the records in order to determine for myself whether they exonerate the lawyer's clients.

One other tidbit from the article:

Stanford last month had filed its own records request after being tipped off anonymously in February by email about the case.

If Stanford was tipped off in February and that was the first time they heard about it, that means presumably Hector did not disclose anything about this in his application.

Last comment.  Since Hector never became a Stanford player, should we change the title to "Former Stanford commit's family..."
