BC, question for you re: the title of this thread. You convinced me that the coronavirus didn't show up early in the SF Bay Area a few threads back. I'd mentioned that about 1/2 dozen people I'm close to had symptoms similar to COVID-19, myself included.
Based upon the lack of antibodies in the Stanford survey and the fact that they didn't show up until the third week of February, your conclusion -- and my conclusion -- was that the coronavirus had not showed up early in the SF Bay Area. Now I read that, not only was the first American COVID death on Feb 6, but that person had no connections with China, and in fact was considered a community transmission. And there was another COVID death on Feb 17, same circumstances.

Based on that new evidence, would you revise your opinion? Do you think the coronavirus was circulating in Santa Clara County sometime in January, or even earlier?
