And South Korea's first known case was on the same day as the USA's first known case at least until this week.
The USA just didn't aggressively test and trace those initial clues like Germany and South Korea apparently both did.
If we're talking about the first US case in WA, I found out recently (on that PBS special) that there was extensive tracing and testing done. They tracked 60 close contacts of the first person (close contacts defined as those who had been with the person for 10 minutes or more) and had them all tested. I was surprised this was not publicized more as I was under the impression that nothing had happened (or at least the bare minimum)
Maybe the cutoff for "close contact" was not aggressive enough?
