One word of caution. There is a possibility that a vaccine actually makes COVID-19 worse. It is something known as "antibody dependent enhancement" (or ADE). The antibody binds to the virus, but rather than triggering removal of the virus from circulation, it actually helps the virus get into cells. It's a phenomenon that is most well-described with dengue (someone who has had dengue before is at increased risk of complications if they get it again).
The reason to sound the alarm is that ADE has been described for the original SARS virus (in animals) and other coronaviruses.
