I hope she doesn't try the UConn route. I think it would be a pretty unhappy situation for her. Geno is very tough and it's not easy to learn his system. For instance, I don't think Stevens enjoyed her year there very much. And the post who grad transferred there this year hardly got off the bench. Di is much better of course, but they do have C. Williams kinda playing her position. Of course it's also not so easy to bond with just one year to play. I don't really want to see her at Oregon, but think that might be the best fit for her. They have a bunch of really talented players coming in and she could be the knowledgeable vet for them....and whatever classes she takes there would be a piece of cake after Stanford.

Not true on Stevens.  She was at UConn 2 years and did enjoy her time there.  She earned her degree and wanted the WNBA more than grad school.  Some were surprised by her decision only because she told the staff she was returning.  She decided she was ready for the WNBA.  The expectation is Westbrook will do the same.

But my understanding was that Stevens didn't want to play in the post, but because of her height that's where Geno wanted her to play...which made her appear less than blissful about her situation and contributed to the decision to leave early. And in general Geno plays 6 players (sometimes 7) even in blowouts so if you aren't on his "a" list you sit on the bench regardless of how good you might have been in a previous reincarnation.

A 6-6 kid less than blissful about a coach expecting her to play and score some points in the post.  Oh the horrors!  Breanna Stewart was expected to score in the post and everywhere else on the court and that didn't hurt her game.  Azura shot 60% overall in one year at UConn but only 18% from beyond the arc.  Had she shown the ability to hit perimeter shots in games (reportedly she made them in practice) Geno would have run an offense for her to score from everywhere on the court.  She didn't do that.  Stevens didn't start because she played behind 2 AAs in Collier and Williams.  She was the first off the bench.  She would have started had she stayed for the '18-19 season but she moved on.  Probably the right call.  

Geno doesn't want to play only 6 or 7 players; he goes with the players he trusts.  MM coached the same way.  Over the past several years I can't think of one player on his bench who should have played more minutes in competitive games.  A lot of UConn games are blow-outs.  If GA is trying to develop a trusted rotation and on-court chemistry he can't worry about the score.
