I think it's likely true that most people see themselves as the reasonable baseline, regardless of the context.  What is not helpful to a rational discussion is speculation about the way any perceived group or person on the Cardboard would react or would have reacted to actions that never happened.  The fact is that sometimes I consider myself to be the only person keeping his rational mind somewhere between the extremes and other times I think I am the only renegade who hasn't fallen into the common emotional traps that other have.  NONE of that matters.  This is the Cardboard.  Bring the evidence that is focused on relevant issues or be prepared to be called on the carpet.  It is the only Thunderdome that really matters to me other than the peer review process.
