And yeah, false negatives a of immense proportions problem. Probably somewhere between 5 and 30% depending on the test, the time of the test in course of disease, and the administration method.
I wonder if there is anyone advocating for college football games but not a season.
With a season--teams playing lots of other teams, often in consecutive weeks--the problems with false negatives can have cascading effects, as an infected player infects players on an opposing team and because of false negatives a third teams can get exposed (and then a fourth).
But if teams played once a month, then some of those concerns go away as you can test and re-test over a long enough time period that can you can be much more certain about whether or not there is an outbreak on your team.
I suggested that the FBS teams in California play a season within the state, home and home.
