I believe Steve Durrett (or maybe it was Terry) showed that his eponymous "rule" went up during the Mamlet years.  Combinations of SAT/GPA that had previously gotten athletes admitted to Stanford were not getting admitted.  As I recall, the data was shown to John Etchemendy, who had been in denial about a change in admissions criteria for athletes and the results were apparently eye-opening to him.
