Yesterday, the federal Court of Appeals upheld California's restrictions on religious services, at least for now. The court turned down a San Diego church's request for a temporary restraining order. The court said that because California's stay at home order does not “restrict practices because of their religious motivation” and does not “in a selective manner impose burdens only on conduct motivated by religious belief,” it does not violate the First Amendment.
