Well, there is a definite possibility that when the advance estimate Q3 GDP is announced on October 29, that it will show something like a 20% (quarter on quarter, annualized) rise in GDP. Of course, that would be after a 40% fall in Q2, but still, out of context it would be an extraordinary number. Likewise, while unemployment in May (announced next Friday) will be ghastly (and probably again for June, at some point some of the temporarily laid off people will be rehired, and you could easily see millions of jobs gained from August to October.
There's no way that Dec. 2020 looks better than Dec. 2019, but it is very likely that Dec. 2020 looks better than June 2020.
