Read that article, seemed like a strange story based purely on anecdote, with no numbers. Biologically, it's hard to envision the virus becoming significantly less lethal via mutation this rapidly. To drive selection, a virus would have to kill its hosts off too quickly so less lethal strains can spread more quickly and outnumber the more lethal ones. With the number of mild and asymptomatic cases this thing has, that seems unlikely to me.
