When the harms appear to be confined largely to the elderly (a historically marginalized demographic in the USA), it's easy to see how $$$ would win when balanced against elderly lives.

The moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; those who are in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped.

Which is kind of why I'm a little worried about this guy on Joe Biden's Public Health Advisory Team regarding COVID-19:
