It's the end of the road for chloroquine/hydroxychloroquine for COVID-19.

All the major trials are being stopped. I already mentioned Novartis pulling out; now the NIH and WHO have stopped their trials. There will be some small trials going forward, and the results of the large trials will still need to be reported in full. But it is clear that quinine derivatives are not a game changer, and that the President's comments probably diverted attention and resources from other, potentially more worthy, treatments.
